Sarah is the Trauma Program Manager at Oaklawn Hospital, a level 3 trauma center. She wears many hats, including Injury Prevention Specialist and lead trauma registrar. She is involved with regional initiatives and is chair of the Legislative Advocacy & Outreach committee for the Michigan Trauma Coalition.
Sarah has been a nurse for 19 years with a career spanning from neuro-intensive care to emergency care. She has called Oaklawn her home for over 10 years. She spent over 6 years traveling the United States as a supervisory nurse for the National Disaster Medical System and FEMA where she provided medical care to numerous communities affected by disasters. Prior to nursing she was the co-owner of a real-estate firm and managed their advertising and development.
Sarah enjoys using her skills and current roles in healthcare leadership to support others through problem solving, teaching and interactive discussions.
Sarah, her husband and two children enjoy life together on the small organic farm they own near Vermontville where they specialize in poultry products, farm-fresh vegetables, flowers, herbs and natural botanicals. They homeschool their boys, ages 10 and 8 and are involved with a local home-school co-op. On the weekend the family enjoys spending time together and can often be found browsing through local antique shops or out at the beach rock hunting if they are not at home cooking and baking!
